I am a new at this. I find the quadcopters interesting and would like to get one.
I have a friend who flies R/C gliders and have watched him often but never got interested
    until the Quads came out.
Struggling with which one to get. I want something easy to fly yet not a toy.
The smart mode fascinates me with the ability to know regardless of my position moving
the stick to the right will always make the quad go right. GPS w/return to home sounds like a good feature.

Need some questions answered understanding the difference between DJI FC40, Blade 350 QX and Walkera 350

Hey i saw you were doing some coding with drones. I am looking to autonomously land a drone on a moving target. Maybe we could work together on some stuff.

jbrumberg we must be neighbors I live in Lee. Very new to quadcopters expecting my Syma X1 tomorrow would like to let you know how I make out with it. Do you have any experience with the X1? I totally agree with your last statement "very hard".

I think reading the first book is a good start! Then start flying - then maybe read the 2nd if you are interested in one of those particular models.

Hi, came across your post just scanning the forum. Although you posted back in 2013 I thought you may be able to offer me some assistance. I just purchased my first quad a Syma X-1 and having some difficulty trimming it out. I take it up 6' or so and it wants to drift toward me trying to trim it out to hover in somewhat of a stable attitude. Is this doable with this copter or am I trying to make it do something it can't? I am the definition of newbie. Any suggestions? Please!

Probably not possible to have perfect hovering with the toy units - you actually learn more by having to do all the little hand motions. The ability to hover will vary each time based on how flat the surface is where you initiate it.

    Hello,
I just started flying my first quadcopter. I have a UDI U818A. That can be seen here.

It's been a great little flyer for me to begin to sharpen my piloting skills. I sure would like to fly the stronger more expensive drones but I know that shouldn't happen till I get my piloting skills down pat. I'm finding it so difficult to pilot the drone when its flying towards me, as all the controls are flipped backwards. Any one have any practice tips that would help me overcome the total out of control flying that i experience when the 818 is flying toward me? I feel I should really overcome that problem before I am ready to move up to a bigger, faster & more powerful drone.
Being new to the sport drone hobby, Am I correct that the sport is all about ones flying skills?

    Welcome!
Basically, it takes time at the sticks to start to get the idea of how the quad acts when it is flying in other directions - muscle and brain memory eventually kick into gear. Since your machine is 6-axis (self leveling) you can actually experiment a bit when it is flying toward you - pull the sticks left and right and watch the quad while you do it.

Keep in mind that more advanced quads are often easier - not harder - to fly. They are often more stabilized because they carry cameras.

As to "sport flying" - this depends on exactly what you want to do with quads and other drones. If your eventual goal is photography and video, then just getting a lot of stick time and understanding the modes (GPS, altitude hold, etc.) will be enough. If you really want to fly FPV with googles or race around pylons or a track, then you need to get a lot more hours in and start trying quads with less stability and more speed. Many allow you to turn off stabilization so you get some idea of how "real" sport pilots fly. On the lower priced end, the Micro Q-Bot does this - it's hard to fly because it acts more manually. In the middle price range, the 200 qx (see the new review I just did) has three modes - including one that only advanced pilots can tackle.

    Good Luck!

The stability of the camera footage is amazingly smooth.
    Very nice!

    Hi,

I've created a new website to locate quadcopter shops, brands, distributors, repair shops and events. You can read more about me in the about page. http://www.rc-quadcopters.net/
The website is free for all, so if you wish to contribute, I'd greatly appreaciate it.

p.s. message to moderators, I hope you don't consider this spam and you'll help me spread the word about this, if you do consider it spam, I apologize and feel free to delete my post. Thanks!

    Cool plug-in.
Not really spam because you are not promoting sales, etc. - even then, an intro post would be OK in many cases.

In some ways, your plug-in functions like this at RC Groups???
    http://www.rcgroups.com/places/

Heck, maybe you should roll this in with our site here.......:)

I guess the down side of this type of thing....may be keeping up with bad or old listings, spam, etc. and also whether or not (and how) to allow registration, etc.

    Hi Admin,

well there is one major difference between our plugin and the sw used on rcgroups. Our is fully SEO compliant and Google loves its URL, so once we will have a good number of listing for New York for example, whenever someone will search for quadcopters new york, or quadcopter shop manhattan, we should and will rank on top.

The SW used by rcgroups is not as SEO friendly... Example, if you google : rc hobby shops in new york, I'd expect to see this page showing up : http://www.rcgroups.com/places/8908165-rc-hobby-shops-in-new-york, instead another page from the forum appear at the end of 1st page. The one from the directory, which should be the page google is after, isn't available in the 1st 20 pages of results.... That's the main difference.

Keeping up with bad/old listings is the main problem of directories, there is no reward without work... Registration takes 1 second, shops can claim their listing and keep them up to date, so that should help!

Thank you for letting me post in your forum. As soon as it will be able to return the favour, I will!

Hi guys, I'm also new at this and hope to get all info I can to make this a great hobby, I've posted in another section with questions so won't go into all that here.
I'm been interested in R/C for several years and have never taken the opportunity to get really involved until now. I hope with your patience I can soon become one of the guys here with answers of my own instead of having to ask questions .
Until then I ask for your indulgence and thank you in advance for your patience.

New member, new to R/C bought a code black drone, essentially a Hubsan Quads x4. I am learning all the characteristics of flight, I figure I will have to get about two hours (or 17 Seven minute flights) of flight time to get proficient.

I have already completed the mods from here: https://www.droneflyers.com/2013/02/hubsan-x4-micro-quadcopter/ and look forward to enjoying a new hobby.

New member and new to multi rotors, started with a Hubsan Quads x4 and then the x4 equipped with the camera and now I've become quite addicted to these flying machines. Just started the process of building a quad myself, chose to go with a 250 FPV quad and am taking my time choosing parts and researching all the in's and out's of diy'ing a quad. Glad I found this forum to have more resources to learn from!

    Greetings!

I just placed my order for a Hubsan Quads X4 H107D, and it should arrive in a couple of days.

I have long been inspired by the folks over at DJI and really enjoy talking with them at CES. I was fortunate enough to be there for their press release about the Inspire and the Ronin thumb controller. I was double fortunate to be that annoyingly loud guy who won one of the hats they tossed out to the crowd! If I hurt anyone's ears, I do apologize.

I've also been inspired by Sam and Niko over at CorridorDigital. Heck, they are how I first discovered drones of this variety. My ultimate idea goal is to begin my own company that does aerial video and photography, but I also know that I need to start small.

I have no R/C experience (unless you count crashing my little brother's R/C glider, some 20 years ago), so, I know this will be a grand learning experience.

    Cheers!

    Tim

    Hi all!

Freshly new member on this forum, I am mostly beginner in multirotors although I used to fly with a DJI F550, I am now building my machine on the basis of a DJI S900. That's why I registered here, I have a few questions about it, hope to find some help!

    Cheers!
