Hello everyone, I'd like to soon start a small, test business in real estate drone photography in Romania and I'd like to buy a great camera drone to experiment with and start filming beautiful landscapes, events and buldings. I am now almost decided I want the Yuneec q500 4k, as it also has the handheld gimbal that I can use for interior presentation. I feel like the P3 does have a slight advantage in camera quality and maybe the range of use can be useful too (although not that much). All these being said... Yuneec q500 wins so much more in terms of utility(it even comes with a nice case. What is your oppinion?
I spent better part of ten days weighing the positive and negative of both models and visiting the few shops in area I will probably buy a Typhoon. Local shops have stopped handling DJI because of customer service issues(bad and none) I'll take some good service over a poorly supported product but well featured. Maybe someone is reading and will take note and remedy this issue. Maybe latter I will venture and buy a Phantom but right now I don't see it
Thanks for the answer, I reached the same conclusion. Although I live in Romania and I am not quite sure if customer service is responsive for either of them. Even so I finally decided on the typhoon, better features on a more complete package and it's pretty special too, everybody seems to have a Phantom these days.
This type of decision is usually individual. The Q is easier to fly (less complex software) and bigger - easier to see in the sky. The Phantom has better stealth abilities (fits in a backpack, smaller) handles wind better and generally has better Image Quality - the ability to use larger tablets for your FPV is important also. It all depends on what want out of your machines. In my case I fly in many semi-urban areas so I like mine to fit in a backpack and not be large...and I want the best image quality possible for the price - so the Q is not for me since it's harder to strap on and take a bike ride, etc.
I am almost the opposite of urban with my county having a population of 5,000. Bike better have a speed of 55 or your going to be a bug on a truck bumper or rolled over by a 400 hp quad tractor. I can see my work for Pheasants Forever being greatly enhanced with an aerial pre and post surveys. Still may get a smaller unit for when I do displays around Minneapolis. Friends have indoor operators license for pyro. Just seen a smaller knock off of the Typhoon but as with most copies probably not near as good. The previous drone by the designer for the Typhoon is smaller and I will be looking at that to see about commonalities. The Wizard is of great interest for the Typhoon. No need for the ground station for the follow me feature.
As far as customer service, the very best is the type you never or hardly need - I require almost no support (have never sent any drone in for repair or called the companies about anything), so I don't worry much about it. If I needed to have a guarantee on flying a drone (for business, etc.), I'd either buy 2 or I'd buy an extended warranty (you can get them from some vendors) where they fix your model or replace your drone instantly if something happens. Maybe it's me but talking to lower level employees on the phone or by email - most of whom don't know as much as the people on the good forums - doesn't excite me much. In fact out of all the hundreds of products I own I doubt I spend 10 minutes a year on the phone or otherwise getting support. I'm from the old school I guess. I like buying from Amazon because you do get the guarantee that it will not be DOA and the capability of return (which I have rarely taken)....but after 30 days I just figure things out for myself. The manuals and forums, etc. will 99% of the time have more and better info than the customer service folks.
Thank you guys for all the information. I've decided on getting a Phantom afterall: Better camera quality (i've watched houndreds of videos) Way longer transmitter distance Can be used as a handheld gimbal (kinda funny looking, but I guess it works) - Tell me if you have anything to comment on this. Is the focal lenght not appropriate? smaller (a pretty good advantage when it comes to going in th mountains with it and travelling by foot) Now, the only problem I have is: What do I choose between Phantom 3 PRO and ADVANCED? I saw that filming in 4k will look better even in when the video is shown as 1080p on a 720p screen (my setup) compared to the advanced filming directly in 1080p. The differences aren't huge, and that's why I don't know if I should pay the additional price, but I'm a perfectionist and would like to get the absolute best. Another problem would be the fact that it may be pretty hard to render the 4k. I have a pretty damn good 8 core processor computer, but will need to upgrade the video card (which I may do, some of these days). What do you think? Will filming at the same resolution (2.7k for example) get the same results between the Pro and Advanced? THanks
It's your decision. I have a Pro but almost never use the 4K. All my videos are done in 1080/60. So if money is tight I'd say the Advanced will do the job.
