Like the title says, if you all of a sudden got a check from Warren Buffett or Bill Gates, won the lottery or just found the $$$'s what drone would you buy, and why?

This depends on what you need to accomplish - and also what extras you wish to buy to make the whole thing complete...

If aerial video and photos are your goal then the answer is easy - the Phantom 3 Pro - with an extra battery or two and a nice case.

If you want to learn to race drones or do something else, the answers will differ.

If you want to learn drones - then save the 2G's and put about $100 to some starter models and fly them until you destroy them - then decide what you really want.

Ash, so it's a question for those who don't have that 2G of credit on their cards or paypal....now I get it!

I have too many quads so right now I'd get an Osmo - or if Buffet gave me 5K I'd get the Inspire with the 4/3rd camera.

Splash Drone, auto version. Then when I dunk it she isn't ruined like any others would be. But then I want one for almost entirely using over water.

ifsteve, thanks, Splashdrone, I'd never heard of it. That's pretty cool.

I'm a builder so naturally I'd build my own. I'm not a big fan of over priced plastic drones that can end up being a crash & trash. I'd have to go with a hexacopter Tarot FY690S. If I'm spending $2 grand I want to be able to repair, upgrade and modify over and over.

Not even have to think about it. The Inspire 1 is the way to go. Although it does pretty much the same things as The Phantom 3 professional, for a higher price, it's worth the money, even if only for the looks of it. That's if I was really rich as you presume we would be. I mean, come on, those retractable arms... a sight to be seen.
