Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows if the same concept used in wind turbines to generate electricity could be applied to the rotors on a drone?
It would take more energy to run the rotors than the electric that you would generate...so it's not practical. In theory we could send a winged drone up high and then have it switch to VTOL mode (props up) and let it fall for hundreds of feet and generated electric that way - but there are easier ways to get energy. We have the wind and the tides and other massive systems which are already going up and down and sideways with power.
