Wind speed app

    You can use your phone to check the wind speed. Will have to check it out. Local fireworks club uses a phone to measure wind speeds. We have a max wind speed of 15 per NFA to shoot pyrotechnics.

    I use a combo of apps and web sites to check wind - as you can see by my avatar, I sail....

    windfinder is a free app.

    I also use wunderground weather to check local personal weather stations.
    Sailflow is a more sophisticated web site to check longer range wind forecasts.

    It measures preasure against the microphone giving realtime on site measurement without buying seperate meter although a low speed gauge for ultralights-gliders should be very cheap.

    I used WindAlert for my iPhone. Works good enough to know what to expect, plus it is free so that's always a plus.
