I bought my dad a DJI Phantom 2 for Christmas. He kept joking that he wanted a drone, so I finally got him one, and he loves it, except for one thing. He can't fly it. He built a dune buggy when he was 19, built our house (twice), fixes his own cars, and just re-built a golf cart, but for some reason he can't figure out how to fly this drone. I think all he needs is a few hours with someone who know what they are doing, and he'll get the hang of it. Does anyone know where in the Northern Cincinnati, OH area he could go to get lessons, or how to find someone independent that would be willing to show him how? I would like to buy him the lessons as a Father's Day present.
I think you are right that some personal instruction may help. Hopefully you will be able to find someone! In the meantime, you should buy him a paperback copy of my book...(or ebook if he prefers) http://www.amazon.com/Getting-Started-Hobby-Quadcopters-Drones-ebook/dp/B00DBJQKD8/ There is also a DJI book on Amazon now - specific to the Phantom 2: http://www.amazon.com/DJI-Phantom-Drones-Quad-Copters-ebook/dp/B00JLZ67P2/ (I have not read it - it seems quite short, but maybe helpful).
Find a local hobby store that carries the Phantom, ask the people there if they would know someone or teach him themselves.............. http://hobbyohio.com/ would be a good start
