I would like to buy an under $100 quadcopter with video This is my first quadcopter and I would like the video more for the fun than anything. I would like the video to be nice enough to share. Here is the three top candidates I have found with what looks to be the key differences. Any Opinions ... Of course there are, so bring them on ... WLtoys V222 $68 RTF Banggood 640 video / Camera Camera is detachable Adjustable camera angle Can remotely turn video on/off VERY modular/repairable (connectors on everything) Shell and led mounts seem pretty fragile 500mAh battery (9 min) Husan X4 H107C HD $71 RTF Banggood 720 video / 2MP Camera Camera is integrated into the body and faces straight out LEDs are integrated Controller can bind to Epson Proto-X 380mAh battery (7 min) JXD 392 $42 RTF Banggood 640 video / Camera Camera is integrated into the body and faced down angle Can remotely turn video on/off LEDs are integrated 380mAh battery (7 min) REALLY inexpensive
I'd say if you want some decent stills and video, the 222 may be better - just because of the size of the quadcopter. I've lost many Hubsans - some as close as 50 feet to where I was standing! If you want to just take pics or video of your small backyard or large indoor rooms, the other may do the job. But if you want an introduction to the possibilities outdoors, I'd lean toward something bigger than palm size.
Thanks webman, Looking at the videos, I had no idea that the V222 was bigger (I haven't seen either in person). Based on that, it looks like the V222 would be better outside and the H107C would be better indoors. I really don't plan to fly mine much indoors; so, the V222 is probably the better choice. One challenge outside is that we live in Oregon and there are huge trees. One gust of wind or operator error and it could be lost forever. Lots of sports fields.
You will find eventually that you'll want a GPS stabilized unit - which makes the "tree landings" much less frequent. Both of my losses of the v262's were due to being stupid and flying in winds higher than I should have. Winds increase vastly when you get over 100 feet high. Even with my Phantom, I usually wait for days where the peak gusts are less than 10-12 mph. It all depends on how much $$ you have to burn. While I have some (I make a few $$ from this site), I still don't like that sinking feeling when the quad is lost!
I am just getting it as a fun toy. $100 is probably my limit. I am an Electrical Engineer; so, the V222 does have the appeal of being able to tinker and attach things to it; but, the JXD 392 has the appeal of being really cheap .
