I am very new to quads so I got a Syma X5C-1 and man is it fun. I decided to do the range hack. While I'm waiting for my friend to dig out his old 2.4GHz router so I can harvest the antenna I decided to extended the antenna in the quad itself. I know some have said it doesn't matter in the quad and others have said to do it. I took the copper wire out of a coax cable and cut it so the length from where it connects to the pc board to the tip is 6.25cm which is a multiple of a 12.5cm total length of a 2.4GHz antenna. When opening the shell I didn't realize there were 4 screws under the landing gear. Darn near broke the shell but no damage was done. Here's the problem, I put everything back together making sure no wires were pinched, etc... I put the motors in their proper locations. Once back together I placed quad on flat surface and sync'd with remote. Then I did the both sticks down to the right corner position and reset the quad. All motors spun freely and fired right up. When I went to lift off only the left side would raise and the quad tipped to the right and would not take off. I picked it up and as I turned and tilted it I could here the rotors changing pitch and speed indicating the gyro is working. All stick functions are fine. All blades are spinning at same speed. It feels like the two motors on teh left do not have as much power as the 2 yet before I took it all apart they did. I'm guessing the antenna would have nothing to do with this. Any other ideas? Thanks, Mike
