I have thought about getting a motor upgrade for my Hubsan Quads x4. I dont have a soldering iron or any soldering skills, but I have read about soldering with a lighter. My main question is if i can solder the new motors wires to the old motors wires instead of directly onto the circuitboard.
I have replace 2 motors for my brother on the X4 and I can tell you it's not easy. Cutting the motor wires and soldering it there instead of the circuit board as you suggest was easier...just stagger them so they won't short out and tuck it right back in place. Just be patience and take your time because the dang thing is so small...
I've done it both ways - that is, soldering to the board and wire to wire. It should work either way. Still, you are better off learning the basics of a soldering iron - you can buy cheapo models for less than $10.
