    Drone Enthusiasts,
So, I've just bought a Mavic Pro drone for several months and learning a lot about how to fly and are really excited to be able to take incredible pictures with it. However, I'm learning more and more restrictions are up with Drone flying. In a few more years, I can see where recreation flying will probably need allowed only at your own home!? :(
I've been googling, I am aware of the 400m height, always in view, 5 miles from the airport, no flying in National Parks... What else?
Don't fly over people's head, well, is that realistic? Meaning how high from people's head? How come I see so many Beach drone video that flew over people on YouTube?
Where else can't you fly over? Private property? How do one define that? Does private property included the airspace above them? How far? 200m? Universities are beginning to have more rules as well... There intention is good but again there will soon be no drone flying unless you are home. Or you have to ask for permission for everywhere. Then you have to have a license to fly and pay government fees annually for you license...

Anyone have any comments or suggestions?

    Thank you in advance.

    Sincerely,

    Perry

We have some articles here about "where to fly" - I'll find one or two....
    https://www.droneflyers.com/finding-places-to-fly-and-photograph-with-your-drone/

BTW, it's 400 feet, not meters.

One thing which is important to realize is that camera drones, unless you are actually in business with yours, are not likely to get a lot of use. What I am saying is that I - who writes books, reviews new models, etc - might fly 4 hours a month at most. Many times even less.

It's a fancy camera for taking photos. If you want to just race around a smaller drone allows a easier way to do that - that's why some of the small FPX drones (and even the DJI Spark) are becoming very popular.

You have to use common sense. I live in a relatively unpopulated area on a cul-de-sac (10 house - each on an acre) which backs up to conservation land. So I can fly from my backyard and over the conservation land. If I fly over others property I try to do it at 200+ feet. In those cases it is unlikely they would even know. I surely don't hang around and take pics of them in their backyards.

When I fly at local parks and sports fields I try to do it when others are not using them (no ball games, etc....maybe just a few people walking, jogging, etc.) - and these areas are large enough so that I am never buzzing or disturbing them.

I live in MA and RI and sometime in FL - all very populated areas, so if I can find places to fly you probably can do. In FL there are some abandoned RR corridors where I take off and even an empty old industrial park - but the views from there are of the downtown and the water or a local big park, etc.

Use your imagination. There are usually lots of places to fly - especially if you are like me and not into "building up the hours" but instead use the machine for what it is for..taking pics and vids and then going home.
