    Hi all,

I looked around a bit first and didn't see the QX200 mentioned anywhere, so here goes.

I love this little quad, it's very snappy. But I'm disheartened by the Blade-proprietary firmware and all its upgrades, ugh, I really have no desire to fly 3D.

I've built a few tiny whoops with beecore and Acrowhoop flight controllers and run them through the wringer in Betaflight. I've seen the resulting difference between a so-so model and dialed in performance on a small, only moderately powered drone, and I'd love to raise my QX200 to the same level of tune.

So my question is, are flight controllers each special in their own way (i.e. compared to the proprietary parts), or do they all just connect to a common standard? Can I pull the stock FC out of my QX (assuming I could find it), and replace that with an F3 that will simply talk to the existing ESCs? Or are all these Blade interfaces different from the standard components you'd buy off the shelf?

I'm looking forward to tinkering with this project, unless it's patently not doable, in which case I won't waste my time. I'm just drawn to the potential end result and had this food for thought.

Nice "meeting" you all and I hope you have some good tidbits for me.

You'll have to just open it up and look. There are lotsa Youtube vids on replacing the frame with a number of aftermarket options. You should get a feel on what you'll need to do. I would imagine the ESCs will work with another FC.

Thanks, I've seen the many different frames, I think that's what started me thinking. Then when I went looking I couldn't find anything about electronic components at all. Well, maybe this will encourage me to blaze ahead and see what works. If you see the glow of sparks in the distance you'll know how that worked out! I'll write up whatever I find, or more likely questions raised.
