Hi all, So I have been searching for weeks now trying to find a great drone to meet my travel needs. I currently own a phantom 3 but am hoping to get a second drone that it a little easier to travel with. I spend months at a time travelling and living overseas. I am currently working on visiting every continent. While abroad I live from a backpack so transporting my phantom proves to be a challenge. I am in search of a nifty camera drone to accompany me to Asia and on a 12 day trek to Mount Everest base camp. If funds would allow it the dji Mavic pro would be a no brainer however it is out of my budget range at this point. I am searching for advice on decent portable drones. Needs to be able to fly outdoors, these tiny selfie drones aren't quite what I am after. Cheap batteries or flight times longer than 10 minutes. More than 100 ft flight distance. Under $500 ideally. Photo quality is also important to me as I do a lot of photography and travel writing. Video isn't as important but I would like a half decent camera that can point downwards and not just straight. I know I am asking for a lot here but anyone know of any drones similar to the Mavic pro but at a lower price point? Thanks!
I'd be interested in something like this too although I would want more range. Is there anything a person can build DIY that is better than a Mavic for the same price?
Not even close. You couldn't build something like the Mavic Pro for any price. There is really nothing like the Mavic. BUT, if you have to settle for something less and don't mind the range problems - and aren't picky about video, you could look at: Dobby Zerotech Yuneec Breeze Parrot BeBop 2 FPV All are about $500....or a little less.
Here is a round up of all the foldable drones out there. You would be surprised how capable they are despite some of them being "small selfie drones" Check it out right here.
