I am new to the quadcopter drone world but I am hooked. I am practicing on a cheap one I got for Christmas but I can see where this is going and wanted to start doing the research early. I see lots of options and I really need to get some feedback so I can figure out what I want. I guess I will start with features I want. GPS Return home and autopilot FPV screen or streaming ability from camera to my iPhone. 20 minutes of flight time Built in Camera or Gimble with go pro or iLook I want a package where I don't need to purchase anything extra like a charger to purchase to fly it. Here is the hard part. I really need to keep it under 1000 preferably 5-800 range. I really like the Walkera QR X350 Pro FPV GPS RC Quadcopter. Seems to have everything I need but the packages are kind of confusing as to what is included and what isn't. I also really like the DJI Phantom 2 with the included camera. I don't plan on buying for the next couple of months and want to get a head start on what is out there. Any help would be appreciated.
If you don't plan on buying for a few months, don't get set on any particular quad. A number of new units have recently come out and more are coming out in Jan - some upgraded and some new models. Walkera does not float my boat because of their complete lack of consistency and actual customer service. They have thrown a bunch of models at the market and left users to solve their own problems. I don't think they even have a US office. The most important thing to do is to narrow down exactly what you want to do. Units with cameras and gimbals are great - if you intend to take video and edit it and use it. Gimbals are expensive, so using an ilook - which is not the greatest in quality - might not be my first choice! Then again, you might be limited by budget. It may even be that the Parrot BeBop fits you - with the skycontroller - but only once it's been out a few months and has the bugs out of it. I do mostly still photography so I don't use a gimbal on my current primary machine(s). It's always nice to want features - but you have to really narrow down what you want to do with the machine day in and day out.
