new P2 V+ v3.0 has "Battery Error" at all times

My new P2 V+ v3.0 has an error. Fully charged all batteries prior to turning unit on. The DJI Vision app on my iPhone4 indicates 100% charge for flight battery, charge status bar at top of screen shows green with indicator mark at full right, battery case indicates full charge (four green leds), open circuit voltage at battery terminal is 12.33 vdc. Life should be good, however, the Vision app (in camera mode) has a large "Battery Error Cell Low Voltage Protection Warning" message covering 50% 0f the screen (renders camera image useless). Do not believe the battery to have a problem, but can't clear the error message. Discharged the battery to 20%, Vision screen gave correct indications (aside from error message) of battery use and appropriate warnings, recharged battery, same problem upon turn-on. Deleted Vision app and reloaded, same problem. Vision software issue? Can't find a reset button? Doing something dumb? What to do???
    Thanks

I'm assuming you tried a new battery? Check all the contact on the craft (the gold pins and spades) and make sure they are clean. Make sure battery is snapped all the way in.

Delete and reinstall the Vision app.

    Try again....repeat!

Thanks for the reply. Contacts are in excellent shape. Sensor pad appear to be gold plated, excellent for oxide resistance. The other Vision indicators agree with the Assistant battery status and external measurements show healthy battery. Do not have spare DJI battery as this unit is brand new and I have learned to wait until the drone is operational before stocking up on extras. Have deleted/installed Vision app 3x. Did not delete it from the iLibrary. Maybe I'm reloading a defective copy? Will try to delete/clear/load at iCloud level. Have you seen this issue before?

Seen if on the Phantom 3 a number of times (not mine!) - when the batteries were not pushed in enough.
Never saw it on my P2's nor heard much about it. There were some battery incidents with the bare P2's (non-vision), but in that case you don't have telemetry so it's a different situation. Also, they were addressed in firmware updates a long time ago (what the P2 does with a bad connection).

Using basic troubleshooting techniques I'd say another battery is key.....

You said "new" - is this an old leftover model or used?

I'm fairly stubborn so I'd even reinstall the P2 firmware (usb?) and check all the various screens in the NAZA assistant (Phantom assistant) program when hooked to a Mac or PC. Same with the Remote.

It's a matter of going through all the possibilities - you can try the battery last if you like...since the other options are all free.

Troubleshooting is an art form and should be enjoyed.
The model was new, in a sealed box with inside paper wrapper intact. Battery housing interface is a positive and snug fit. Since the battery telemetry and the Assistant indicate a healthy battery, I would guess I have a software flag that set and isn't reseting. I'll check out a new battery next week (its a couple hour drive to the store and back) as you suggested. I'll play with the software more as I gain knowledge of it in the mean time. I will post the results of the battery and software tests. Would you perchance know if schematics available for the battery internals? Does the FC use an Arduino chip?
Thanks and have a good weekend.

As far as I know no one has deconstructed the battery- other than the battery clone makers (which I never recommend - not worth saving the$$)

The V3.0 is a great craft and they had that model perfected fairly well near the end - so an out-of-box defect is rare. Of course, out of about 400,000 sold it's surely possible. Let us know what you find out in the end.

Well the issue has a null ending as far as knowing the error fault cause. Spent an hour + on the phone with the camera shop which supplied the P2V+. No substitute 3 cell battery was available for testing, only the newer 4 cell units. Tried the basic exercises again (rebooting, reloading, different iPhone) without success. Firmware reload was not encouraged by the dealer and not done. Dealer was looking for a happy customer more than finding the root cause (good business strategy). End result, the P2V+ will be returned for credit against a P3 Standard to be delivered next week. While I learned a lot about UAVs in early 2000 while building the solar cells for the Helios drone (247 ft wingspan, 97,000 ft flight altitude, see http://www.avinc.com/uas/adc/helios/), I'm definitely a newbie in the DJI drone area and do appreciate your thoughtful assistance. You have a great website, keep up the good work.
    Cheers

Great to hear - the P3 Standard is effectively an improved P2V+, so hopefully all will be well.
We just received one ourselves and a colleague is putting it thru it's paces now for a review.

I suspect you were right on with your call that the battery is at fault. I just learned that the battery is capable of setting flags separately from the Vision app. The cells may be fine, but the "intelligent" part may have a fault. Too bad I have no access to a second battery for testing to verify.
    Thanks
