New to forum and drones. I need advice regarding use of drone for spotting down timber in forested area for salvage logging. I would like to be able to spot and mark or GPS locate to hand held device. Is it possible to set drone to fly grid pattern? Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thank you
All of this is possible - although some falls outside of many hobby machines. Of course you'll probably want to learn the basics on a couple toys - just so you can get the idea of how they are controlled, etc. In the meantime you'll probably want to consider either the DJI Phantom 3 - it keeps perfect track of the flight route as well as where it takes each picture. It can fly grids using 3rd party (add-on) software. New software is coming out regularly. http://flylitchi.com/help#waypoints-p3 is one example. But you can start your researching..... There are actually some dealers who are starting to specialize in mapping and similar missions.
