Hey guys, I'm concepting a project for a client, and looking for some insight on if this idea is possible. What our idea is.... 1. Having 1 or multiple drones/drone operators located around a city 3. Having customers at a separate location. 4. These customers could choose a drone location, then view and control drone camera in real time 5. This footage would be recorded to so we can then later send them a video of their footage. Is there any technology out there that would allow for this? Thanks for any help you can offer!
What country? What Laws dose your country have about flying within city limits? How much liability insurance do you carry?
This would be in the San Francisco area, not necessarily within the city limits though. In further investigation after posting this, it looks like our biggest issue would be that it seems FFA regulations ban any commercial use of drones. Just to be clear on my original post, we would not want customers to be controlling the actual drone, just the camera that is attached. The drone would be manned be an experienced operator.
You have answered your own question, FAA rules. But, neat idea.........you would just have to be "licensed" by the FAA as a commercial UAV to do it.
They aren't about to license something like that! Flying over people and vehicles is not perfected (safe) yet. When and if it happens, it will probably be a company like Google or Amazon doing deliveries. Those companies have large lobbying budgets and also may eventually be able to prove the safety of their vehicles. I truly believe this will happen - that Unmanned aircraft will eventually have enough failsafe mechanisms built in to keep on from dropping on your head or through your windshield. But it's a long way off - probably 12-20 years (guess). But who knows - breakthroughs are possible. Still, the "little guy" is not likely to be first in line in the halls of government.
