    Hi!

I think that quad-rotors can rotate in 4 ways: rotating by reducing the thrust of one rotor and increasing the thrust of the other and then rotating on this axis.
I also think it can fly in 4 other ways: between a line that separate two rotors on the left side and two others on the right side and fly this way.

But in how many ways can a drone fly and rotate when it is an hexacopter?

I think that both can fly in any direction since they control ALL of the motors and therefore can do more than simply work on one motor at a time. The combination of reducing and increasing thrust can make it head in any direction desired.

I have never flown a Hex but pilots say they are somewhat harder to orientate - probably because it is never clear what direction they are facing. Still, they can move in any direction.
