I lost a dj2+ flying when suddenly after receiving a phone call in my Iphone that I was using to fly it , the motors started to run at different speed making it losing its balance and slowly but surely crash..

any body as an idea what I did wrong?

    Thanks

In a situation like that I would have switched the TX (remote) to ATTI mode and manually steered the model.

This assumes you have IOC set and therefore have access to ATTI mode.

Thanks for the input.. it went so fast that I didn't have time to do much..now my question is that should you put your Iphone on airplane mode each time you fly a DJ?

Yes - not a bad idea to turn off the cellular (only) - NOT the wireless.

In theory it should not make the Phantom fly away or crash when it rings - but it can distract you and hide the app.

The P2 needs to use the wireless part of the iphone (not the cellular - at least once the maps are cached)....so you may be able to turn off just the incoming ring in another way and leave the wireless on (maybe turn off cellular use only).

But - in reality - the phone ringing should not make anything strange happen.

Thanks that is what I thought but on this particular case it became completely unstable... like the motors where operating at different speed... from stationary position I was about to take a picture he started to wiggle and went slowly down into water and disappear for ever... I got a Phantom 3 and as I live on a lake and do take a lot properties from the water I'm trying to narrow down why this happen.. the only thing I different from previous flight is that I install new propellers, carbon fiber.. could it be because of them?

Ok - at least the P3 keeps logs so you may know better next time. Here is my basic advice:

    1. Never use aftermarket props - DJI props are very nice and they offer the best possible reliability. It could have been a loose or failed hub on your carbon props - which would have caused all the motors to act weird since they try to balance each other.
    2. Make certain you always clean the battery contacts - use a special made compound like DeOxit Gold to keep them clean.
    3. All systems fail - it's likely that the more hours you put on a quadcopter the more chance of a component failure.
    4. Learn what to do in an emergency - in the case of the P3 enable "multiple flight mode" and practice switching the mode switch (on Remote) to the middle setting which does away with GPS input.
    5. Calibrate compass and IMU perhaps every month or so (not too much!).

In addition, some hints are here:

I will add some caution on flying over water. This is fine to do, but the more minutes you spend over water, the more chances there are of eventually landing in it (for one reason or another).
S0 - fly over water only when you need to actually get the shot. Don't spend your time practicing over water or just flying around.

One guy just came up with a set of floats for the P3.

Also, if you have a boat nearby you can often save the quadcopter and dry it out (fresh water only) - especially if it has some floatation).

Lastly, one company (B&H photo) sells an extended SquareTrade warranty for P3's bought through them - this covers crashes as long as you retried the quadcopter. If you find yourself losing more of them you could consider this.

Great advices I appreciate it... it might have been the props as it was the first time I was flying with them.. bummer...

I send divers to try to retrive the drone but too deep... is B&H warranty works for international..? I will look into it anyway

I'm not sure if B&H is international - let us know what you find out.
