As someone who is creating a service that requires the use of drones, I find myself creating a future that makes drones ubiquitous. I'm not sure if its just me living in fantasy land or a drone geek that really wants this to be a part of our daily lives. Sanity check?

I think I've already seen a more widespread use of drones. I see so many people who work in real estate buying up good drones like the Mavic because it so much more convenient to fly a drone to do roof and chimney inspections than it is to pull our a ladder and risk injury. I've also seen it used for emergency services. The Coast Guard using drones to find missing people, firefighters using them to look at the movement of wildfires to cut them off, or for looking for missing persons when people can't easily get to. The benefit of having a set of eyes anywhere you want is such a great tool. I think drones will have more widespread usage, but it might still take a few years to ramp up. Mostly to get over public perception. Also, I don't think this is just fantasy, but almost a certainty.
