Hey everyone, I recently bought the Hubsan Quads h501s drone. I can't get it to fly. When I turn both the transmitter and the drone on, I flick on the GPS and calliberated it. I waited for it to say it was under 6 satellites and then I started the motors by pulling the right and left switch back. ( That took about three times before they went) Then when I push the throttle stick forward, it doesn't do anything. I know it still works because when i turned off the transmitter before the drone it tried to shoot up, I held it down and turned the transmitter back on, then it calmed back down. Am I missing something here?

You should tell us the problem and solution so when we get one we don't repeat the mistake!

Not 100% sure how it was I fixed it. But however I think it was because the GPS satellites weren't staying 6 or over. They kept jumping from 6 or 7 to nothing. I flew it in a open area and worked then.

    Hi T.C.,
Just purchased a Hubsan Quads h501s and I'm having the same problem that you had. It won't fly! The motor & propellers spin in idle mode but nothing happens when the
throttle is pushed upward. What did you do to solve the problem?? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Just sent my second one back:( The first one would not hold on gps but drift and could not get it to trim properly. and the video was very poor with horizontal lines. The last one they had two motors turning the wrong direction but the video seemed good. Very happy I did not order from overseas but from a reputable retailer.
Picked up a Nighthawk pro racer with Spectrum DX6 and Fat shark V3 off CL that may have to fill my need for a smaller craft.

    Dear Prairie Pyro,

Thanks for your message! Same with me, this was my second H501S and after lots of time and frustration I still couldn't get it to work. So I just sent mine back for a refund. Prior to sending it back (to B & H Photo & Video in New York City) I took it to a local drone shop that sells these, and they couldn't get it to work either. But while I was there he showed me a fairly new drone called an X-Star Premium by Autel Robotics. Looked it up and it has great reviews. It's a pricier drone (about $899) but something you might also want to check out. I'm considering it. The owner of the local hobby shop here said that Autel Customer/tech service (if needed) is very good (available 7 days a week) and based here in the USA.

From the chatter at the Phantom site the Autel series is giving the DJI heartburn. There was a Amazon Prime sale on the best that Autel had to offer for several hundred under the list price. (599?)
I wanted a craft with brushless motors , half the size of the Phantom of more with cheaper batteries to fly around the house as winds here this year at the bottom of the red river valley have been almost non stop. Probably why we got stuck in a small draught area
B&H was also my etailer as they have been excellent for photography needs for many years. Glad I was not the only one with issues but with the props that are screwed on and the motors don't turn the right direction its hard to say that its my fault. Would have been an easy fix I think. Someone else had bad soldering and every flight was another adventure with sporatic actions.

Sorry, for such a super late response, it never showed up in my e mail that you asked a question. If you even still have it, it was becasue the satelitte signals weren't up to 6, which is required for the gps to work.

    Hello
    I've got a question:
Can I oil the motors of my Hubsan Quads x4 h501s, so that they go smoother?

Brushless motors should not be oiled. They should not need it.
Most have sealed bearings so you can't get to them anyway. If they are making bad noises, etc. it is because they are poor quality or defective.

    Thank you for the answer.

If you've racked up up a few hours on them, periodic oiling of bearings is good preventive maintenance. The high speed bearings we use are not sealed, they are shielded. You don't want to use things like WD40 though.

    Thanks for the advice!

My second question is about gyro sensor.

Let me tell you what happened:
A week ago I had a crash. The drone hit a roof. It flied normally after it, everything was all right, but one arm of the body shell was twisted. Today I replaced whole body shell for a new one, but after replacement the drone doesn't calibrate gyro properly. Actually the transmiter just says 'check gyro sens' and nothing happens. It looks like the quadcopter skips the gyro calibration. (The gyro sens worked fine before the body shell replacement)
Can you tell me how too fix it?

Please HELP! Is this the normal video on my new Hubsan Quads H501s? :(

This is an inexpensive GPS quadcopter that lacks a gimbal (stabilzer) for the video - so you will never get smooth video from it (like what you see from a DJI, etc.).

In other words, that looks normal to me for a quadcopter without a gimbal.
