Notes – The current (summer/back-to-school) Camera Drone market appears to be driven by one or more of 3 factors:
1. Price – closeout or lowered pricing seems to drives bursts in sales
2. Quality/Features – Phantom 4 is selling well due to perceived high quality and multitude of features – even though it is priced higher than many.
3. Newness – New entrants to the market such as the Yuneec Typhoon H are often snapped up by tech “first movers” – however, these bubbles are likely to pop unless the machines prove to be a superior value in the longer run.
Once again it is telling that the top 6 are either DJI or a DJI Clone (Autel). Consumers seem to prefer this compact unibody design in the $400-$1500 price range.
Sales drop off quickly for more expensive models (over 2K with extras) such as the DJI Inspire and Yuneec Typhoon H Pro (with realsense).
