This is a smart drone which uses various sensors to find it’s way around. While most quadcopters allow you to fly them into walls and windows, this platform features sensors for avoiding obstacles
Last year we reviewed a fine quadcopter from Walkera, the medium sized MX400
In the time since, Walkera has come out with a number of additional multicopters, including the well regarded and tiny Ladybird. An advanced version of this fine bird is now available which have some amazing technology built into it! This platform features sensors for avoiding obstacles. Infrared beams allow the Walkera to literally bounce off the walls – or, more accurately, to bounce off the air near the walls! These features are easy to see in a short video produced by the factory:
In addition to the infrared sensors, this quad also had down-facing soundwave sensors which determine it’s height above solid objects. It can literally walk up a set of stairs!
This is not the quadcopter for everyone, but for those who do indoor/garage/basement flying and who are interested in the advancing technology, it offers an amazing value for about $150.
