Hello forum! I'm new here and fairly new to drones. I started off with a micro and once I got the hang of that I moved up to an X5C and quickly became a master with it, that thing flies like a dream! Wanted to try FPV so got a JJRC H26 and did not like it at all.. Bought a X8W and although its much better than the JJRC it still flies like a tank compared to the X5C.. (my initial plan was to eventually get a Phantom 3 Advanced) I had trouble with depth perception flying FPV since I had to fly close and around obstacles due to range limits.. I read that the X8W would carry a gopro so I rigged a mount and although it will carry it, its not very well (I think the battery cant discharge fast enough and the computer thinks its low voltage and tries to land often) And on to the question.. I think I want a nice drone with enough power to carry the gopro easily when I want to film but still have the agility and responsiveness of the X5C. Is there such a beast?

Have you ever watched any so called FPV videos with ~250 class racers? The majority of what you see are on-board video shot with GoPros.

Is that close enough to your X5?

What the! I mean.. yea.. that comes close to the X5.. Seriously, that was some amazing flying. I dont see how they can zip through stuff like that so easily.. I have trouble getting between two trees..lol.
Anyhoo, that little critter wasnt carrying a gopro either. Are they suitable for outdoors? How hard are they to fly? I have only flown 6 different drones and actually the very first one was a kit/built drone. Aluminum, large, huge motors..
and this one was not user friendly. I got to where I could get it off the ground and move it around the yard a bit but it would not hover by itself or anything.. you had to constantly adjust to keep it upright.. It was
so hard to fly I just got rid of it.. Of course this was my very first attempt with no prior knowledge, training or anything.. Wish I had that one back now..

Well - "film" is a relative term! If you just want to film your racing around, a mounted cam on a small brushless will do.
I don't see the reason for most pilots to need or use a GoPro - too much weight and too much money to take a chance with. I just bought a new #808 for use with my smaller and FPV models. It takes nice video and still...relatively!
Many use the Runcam or the Mobius for the next step up.
These types of machines (FPV vs. Phantom) are so different as to not even be in the same league. If you want to take creative video and stills - you want a GPS stable quadcopter. If you want to bomb around and have fun, the others will do nicely.

As I say in my book - there comes a time when you realize whether you have the "right stuff" or not. I don't think I will ever take to goggles or FPV with the monitor, but I like flying the small machines around a field just for fun.
Oh, BTW, here is a short vid of my Runner 250 flying away after a crash! I recovered it...now I am going to mount my #808 keychain cam to it.

Ideally, the real drone nut will have a Phantom of some sort for their real pics and vids...and a couple other machines for flying enjoyment.

Holy cow, how fast is that thing!! Now, that looks like a ton of fun, is it a kit or?
I;m surprised you found it, battery go dead before it flew to far?
I fly a Phantom 3 & a 4, which as you know are amazing machines, Using Litchi I did an "out of sight" mission for the first time, longest 18 minutes of my life!
But, the 3 advanced never faultered, took video/pics as programed in Litchi mission hub,in the comfort of your kitchen , came to last waypoint (#14) hovered as programed.
But, I'd like a really quick machine that I can repair at home if required, I even thought about building something over the long, hard Canadian winter.
I can't see doing much Phantom flying in cold weather, although there are many videos of winter flying.
A walkera, I think you said- You want to recommend a model # & have you built anything that really impressed you?
What about programming, the ESC & all that? I guess I beeter get reading!

Ok, so I have been flying the heck out of this thing (i'm semi pro now..lol) but I have a problem. I thought the failsafe was already set up and it is on in baseflight but the other day I flew 2 pack through it and then on the third just as I took off and went to bank right around a small tree it just kept going right into the tree.. Luckily it got stuck and was just sitting there spinning away. I turned off the radio to kill it (activate failsafe) but nothing happened..still spinning away. So I figured out how to actually set up the failsafe and bench tested it many times.. But.. a few days later same thing happened (same tree luckily) and again it got stuck in the tree spinning away and turning off the radio did not activate failsafe.. Once I retrieved it and took inside I did another bench test on failsafe and worked fine.. What is going on?? For some reason this thing is losing signal and not responding to anything.. even the failsafe. Also note that most times when I plug in a pack it will beep constantly and I will have to unplug/plug sometimes as many as 6 times before it stops. I really dont want to see this thing fly away and especially if I have my gopro mounted on it. Any ideas what the problem is? Bad flight controller?
