Yesterday I got an Attop Yd-928 quadcopter. It's my first and I'm trying to learn how to fly it. So far I'd say I've been just trying to control it indoors. It doesn't seem to hover well. It seems to always want to drift and I'm always just trying to compensate and keep it from crashing. It's possible that I should be trying it in a bigger space. I've seen videos of other quadcopters hovering quite nicely though. I tried (per the instructions) pulling the control sticks down to the outside corners to calibrate the controller but it still always drifts.

I'm wondering if a better controller would help. I noticed in a video about the Estes Proto X that you can control it with a Hubsan Quads X4 controller, which has real trim settings. Are all of these 2.4GHz Transmitters basically interchangeable?

    Thanks!

The answer is no. I now own three quadcopters and while I haven't tested all the possible combinations, my Attop Yd-928 does not work with the controller from my Cheerson CX-10 Nano Drone.

I have read though that if you can't set the trim on the controller, you can try shimming the drone when you calibrate it. I would imagine that you would want to shim the side that it drifts toward, though what I read was not specific. Seems worth a try though I have yet to try it myself.

My goal is to learn on the cheap little toy drones and eventually move up to ones that can haul GoPro and DSLR cameras.

I just tried the Attop with a Hubsan Quads X4 controller and it was a no go as well. I'm gonna try and open it up and see if there just needs to be a channel switched or something.

How do you like the CX-10 vs the Attop? I only have that and the Hubsan Quads to go off of and I prefer the Hubsan Quads. It's much easier to control and has better features (better LEDs and they let you know when battery is going low).
